Signs Express Twickenham took a much coveted finalist place in the Best Sign Project category at the Signs Express convention, held at the Nottingham Belfy hotel on 28th November. The annual convention, which consists of a day of seminars and an evening event with awards and celebration, was particularly special this year as the company was celebrating its 25th birthday.
In a shake-up of the usual voting process, the awards were voted for by the franchisees themselves for the first time ever, making this a true reflection of the centre's talent as they were being judged by their peers. Welcoming franchisees from their 70 centres across the UK and Ireland, the convention was a huge success, celebrating past achievements and looking towards the future, a notion supported by their futuristic space themed evening event. The blind vote for the sign awards took place at lunchtime on the day of the convention with the entries displayed on boards lining one of the walls at the conference. The Best Sign Project category received many fantastic entries and so became a much sought after award! Success came for Signs Express Twickenham with their project for Fulham Broadway shopping centre. Commissioned by Walkers (NI), Signs Express Twickenham provided escalator and window graphics for Fulham Broadway Shopping centre promoting the centres facilities. With no access to any architects measurements, the responsibility to ensure the graphic measurements were correct fell to the Twickenham team, who hand measured every inch of the escalator to make sure all the dimensions were as accurate as possible, which was vital in making sure the work was not only completed as efficiently as possible but also provided a striking and visually perfect finished result. Signs Express Twickenham stripped the old graphics from the escalator and cleaned the surface area thoroughly before installing the new graphics. In order not to disrupt shoppers or commuters of the nearby District Line underground station, work had to be completed out of the centre opening hours and took two nights to complete. The finished graphics show details of the VUE cinema and David Lloyds Gym within the centre, whilst also highlighting the various eateries available throughout the shopping centre. As part of the project, the Twickenham team also supplied and installed complementary frosted window prints to cover glazed panels overlooking the railway lines of the attached District Line station. Health and safety was paramount due to the work being undertaken in a public place with heavy footfall and our expertise ensured compliance was met throughout the whole process, including the need to use water to aid the installation. The Twickenham team's strict health and safety policies ensured no accidents during the process and a streamlined and efficient procedure all round. Signs Express managing director Craig Brown commented: 'This challenging project was a huge success due to the professionalism and attention to detail of Signs Express Twickenham. The end result is fantastic, a job very well done and a well-deserved finalist place!' Established in 2003, Signs Express Twickenham is owned by franchisee Jay Patel.
