First impressions count! A good impression takes less than 10 seconds and in retail, this is extremely important, not only for the retailer but the customer too. Hammersmith Broadway Shopping Centre saw the need to update its centre to not only give the right impression but, move with the times and create a retail environment its customers would expect.
Signs Express Twickenham were commissioned to manage the build and install of the designs commissioned by Walker Communications. The existing designs looked uninspiring and 'tired'. The centre has four main atriums; each had numerous acrylic panels on locators with only the brand identities of the various retail and food units. It was time for a change.
Based around the Hammersmith tube station which is a central point in London, the centre has a footfall of over 100 million annually. It was time to brighten up the 4 atriums with signage reminding commuters what the centre has to offer. Bearing in mind the location, Walker Communications designed a more urban lifestyle theme reflecting the environment. Lightboxes were also required with easy to change graphics for advertising seasonal or promotional messages. After giving the client the best advice on materials and installation requirements for such a busy centre, the first stage was to remove all existing signage and clad the recessed panels with aluminium composite sheets. Then digitally printed wallpaper was fitted over them with the new colourful graphics. In total over 150sqm of space was covered. Signs Express Twickenham also installed two 3000mm wide slimline LED lightboxes with changeable front-loading graphics stretched across the face. In order to minimise disruption to the shopping centre and commuters, all work was carried out overnight between 11pm and 6am. The whole project took eight weeks to complete, from design, manufacturing to installation. The end result was fresh, bright new graphics that have livened up the atrium and the whole Shopping Centre looks modern delivering exactly what the client required. Jay Patel, managing director at Signs Express Twickenham explains: 'Being asked to manage the build and install the designs commissioned by Walker Communications was very challenging, yet a very rewarding project. We provided our expertise in signage by not only providing and installing the new graphics but, using material that was easy to remove for future campaigns and promotions. The client was extremely delighted with the great service we provided and we are currently working on another project with them.'
'Signs Express did a very professional job with high levels of accuracy and service, working around the busy schedule of a commuter shopper centre.
