Our Work
Signs of treasure at museums
After providing the fabulous wall boards and window vinyls for the Vivienne Westwood exhibition, Steve and Carol at Signs Express (Sheffield) were asked once again by the Museum to provide the detailed wall boards for the 'Treasures From the V&A 400-1600AD' collection.
Working to tight deadlines, Signs Express (Sheffield) printed and installed all signage for the exhibition - right down to the small name cards for inside the priceless artefacts exhibit cases. The job became much more of set design than simple sign making for Steve and Carol. Similar to the Westwood work, the wall boards are prints with antique gold vinyl, colour matched expertly to the collections works. Inside the gallery colour matching is vital to the appearance of the exhibition, under museum lights the colours of wall boards, vinyls and window graphics - down to the name cards in the display cabinets, all need to compliment the displays. Working from a piece of cloth the team of skilled sign makers created a stunning entrance hall printing onto opaque and translucent vinyl to create the colours and dramatic feel the museum were looking for. It's all about creating a show and atmosphere for visitors and so every detail counts. Steve and Carol will always go that extra mile to make sure every small detail is perfect and works to compliment the displays. Sheffield is the only UK stop for the collection. The collection features sculpture, metalwork and ceramics from 12 centuries of European craftsmanship, starting around 400AD.
