Our Work
Signage project for new multi-million £ Harlow Health Centre
Already no stranger to working on signage projects for Harlow Health Centres Trust, Signs Express (Harlow) are delighted to have worked with main contractor Hutton Construction and CAMM Architect in providing the full signage solutions for the new Lister House Health Centre on Abercrombie Way in Harlow.
Work on the project started well before any construction took place, Signs Express being contacted as plans were evolving for the new centre. Once the building shell was in place, the first part of the project was to install the main name sign, constructed of individual stainless-steel lettering to read "LISTER HOUSE HEALTH CENTRE" and which spans over 16 metres long. Well qualified, and with lots of experience in fitting signs at high level, Signs Express (Harlow's) own in-house sign installers fitted the impressive name sign. The second stage involved providing internal wayfinding sign solutions to compliment directory, consulting room numbering and door/name signs, all within the design brief and brand guidelines. All internal wayfinding and directories are constructed in acrylic, with variable fixing solutions depending upon location. For the consulting room door signs, a satin anodised slatz system is installed with slide in name plates allowing for easy updating to accommodate staff and room use changes. Lastly the external grounds of the centre required wayfinding and traffic control signage. Having previously updated the external signage for the other six health centres in Harlow run by the Trust, Signs Express (Harlow) maintained the same style of entrance signage so all in keeping. Harlow Health Centre Trust is a not-for profit registered charity set up in 1980 to take control of the day to day management of the town's Health Centres. Today, with 7 health centres owned by the trust, the original concept continues by each offering dental, GP and other NHS services under one roof. With the redevelopment of Lister House, this new £7.5 million building will triple capacity providing a state-of-the-art facility to more than 20,000 patients across Essex. Carol Sizeland, chief executive officer at HHCT said: "With the rapidly changing and demanding needs in local health facilities, HHCT have responded by replacing and enhancing the existing health centre. The new building is modern and up-to date. The building was designed with the wellbeing of patients and staff in mind. It's an incredibly calming space that's spacious with lots of natural light and we're really looking forward to launching later this month". The new expanded surgery is set to open it's doors later in October and will be officially opened by Harlow MP Robert Halfon on October 19. Signs Express (Harlow) have many years of experience in providing signs and graphics within the healthcare sector - both NHS and private sector, having fulfilled the requirements of hospitals, GP surgeries, dental and orthodontist practices throughout Essex and East Herts. As part of the Signs Express network, we are also one of only four preferred suppliers within the NHS framework.
