As part of the UK and Ireland's leading sign and graphics company, Signs Express (Peterborough and King's Lynn) has helped to produce the ultimate art and design piece for local artist Zoe Richter. The unique piece of art will be exhibited at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge for two weeks from Wednesday 15th May 2013.
The design, based on a parchment scroll called Cepheus, is both a piece of art and a piece of furniture, thus being called 'Street Art Furniture'. The parchment scroll exhibits the 1801 star map of 'Cepheus' The King in the nights sky, from the book entitled; 'Uranographia' by Joannis Elerti Bode. The design of the piece has a musical influence similar to the shape of the harp as the support. This represents the balance of both order and chaos found in the universe. The team at Signs Express (Peterborough and King's Lynn) helped create the design by applying MD5 vinyl material printed with the artist's design onto stainless steel, creating the exact look that Zoe was looking for. Anne Hitch, owner of Signs Express (Peterborough and King's Lynn) commented: 'It was great working alongside Zoe, helping her to create the art piece she was looking for. The design looks amazing and we were thrilled to see the results. People should definitely make a point to see this exhibition, it's certainly an exhibition to inspire you."
