Our Work
RNIB
In 2012 The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) started looking for a new manufacturer of their bespoke product called 'RNIB Map for All' that they have been developing over many years. After interviewing several prospective signage companies, Sue King, RNIB's Tactile Maps and Images Consultant, awarded the contract to Anne Hitch of Signs Express (Peterborough & Kings Lynn).
RNIB Maps for All are exclusive to RNIB and are bespoke maps designed to be read by sight and touch. Each map is carefully designed to blend tactile and visual elements to allow everyone including blind and partially sighted people access to important information they need when using and visiting public places like museums, art galleries, gardens, and railway stations. The most recent commission being for Birmingham New Street Station. Sue King from RNIB commented; 'After working with Anne for several months, I found Anne very willing and able to adapt her production methods to suit the manufacturing needs of the maps. This was something that I had found difficult with other sign companies that I had previously used because they were often reluctant to actually listen to what was being requested and then translate the information into a revised manufacturing process. However, this was not the case with Anne as she was able to understand what was required and come up with a manufacturing process that has enabled RNIB to have a far superior 'Map for All' that is fit for purpose and RNIB's clients are very pleased with. RNIB could not have done this without Anne and her team's help and guidance.' The developing relationship has ensured that Signs Express (Peterborough & Kings Lynn) are producing accurate braille and tactile signage that their clients can trust which is not always the case with other sign companies. Finally, RNIB is commissioning Anne to complete signage audits on their behalf which is a testament to her abilities in the world of braille and tactile signs.
