To give the latest exhibition at Epping Forest District Museum a more professional look, Cath Hammond (Education & Outreach officer) contacted Signs Express (Harlow) to discuss how best to provide a suitable canvas to display the many exhibits.
It was decided long expanses of quotations could be installed amongst the wall displays and original documents be reproduced in vinyl to give a vivid and durable display preserving the originals intact. Following the installation, Cath commented "Just to say thank you for the work the guys did today. The lettering looks amazing - so much better than I hoped. They did a fantastic job of putting it up too and were really helpful. The long quotes didn't look easy to handle and I was very glad I'd asked for installation. The photos of the documents look incredible - better than the originals by a mile. Thank you so much for all your help at turning this round so quickly. I'm sure we'll be making a lot more use of you and now we know what you can do, we'll be better prepared next time around. The exhibitions will look so much more professional with finishing touches like this." The exhibition itself is to run until the end of Christmas 2018 and is about local artist, Walter Spradbery. Whilst he is best known for his London Transport poster designs, this exhibition explores lesser-known aspects of his life - his commitment to pacifism; his work in the Royal Army Medical Corps during WWI; events held for the community at his home in Buckhurst Hill and his role in establishing centres for people to enjoy art. This exhibition also marks the centenary of the end of the First World War. As a well-established part of the local community, the museum located in Waltham Abbey also offers a wide variety of events and activities for all ages.
