Signs Express Sheffield wins its second national sign award of 2015 for best interior sign at the Signs Express Convention.
Steve and Carol Morris of Signs Express Sheffield won the accolade for their wall, ceiling and door graphics at Sheffield's Children's Hospital, which also won a trophy at the BSGA awards in October. Working closely with Artfelt, the Children's Hospital Charity's art programme, and using designs from local illustrator and graphic designer, Nick Deakin, Signs Express Sheffield created numerous graphics to decorate the Eye Department at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Using Nick's characteristic bold colours and simplistic shapes, the team at Sheffield have created an entire world of characters that run through the whole department. The team's work is featured on ceilings, walls and doors across the large waiting room, six orthoptics rooms, four consulting rooms, a treatment room, a quiet room and a visual fields room. In the orthoptic rooms the illustrations serve a specific clinical purpose of giving the young patients something to focus on during eye examinations. Overall, a wonderful installation that has been greatly received by patients, parents and staff at the Hospital is definitely deserving of winning a few awards. Steve and Carol shared the title of best interior sign with Brendan O'Donnell and Cathy Johnston from Signs Express Belfast whose colourful installation at the Newry Campus of Southern Regional College really catches the eye and enhances the students' learning environment tenfold.
