Our Work
Rebranding Leeds College of Music
A previous client of Signs Express, Leeds College of Music approached Signs Express (Leeds) to assist in their new external signage following a rebrand.
Leeds College of Music were already confident that Signs Express could fulfil their requirements, after producing their signage for an earlier rebrand a couple of years ago. The brief outlined a need for external signage that was to be halo-illuminated and a main sign to be installed twenty-five metres from the ground. The college were keen to re-use as much of their existing signage as possible to keep costs low, so the text from two previous signs was kept, the existing circular logo was removed, and a halo illuminated border was added to the text. The LEDs inside all the existing text were also replaced to ensure all illumination was consistent. All new signage was due to be fit in time for the Christmas break, but due to a technical issue with the cherry picker this unfortunately wasn’t possible. Knowing the signage had to be installed in time for an important meeting on the 5th January presented challenges, however Signs Express pulled out all the stops over the Christmas break to ensure the signage was complete before the meeting took place. Signs Express (Leeds) managed the project from production through to installation, advising on the size of the main high-level sign so that it would comply with the brand guidelines. The logo at the top of the building was made of stainless-steel built-up letters, which were given internal LED illumination and powder coated in the college’s corporate colour. The wires were hidden inside an aluminum square tube, which was powder coated and colour matched with the building to not detract from the eye-catching logo. Double-sided, digitally printed reinforced banners were also manufactured and installed. They project at a right angle to the building and are visible to all passers-by and workers in the surrounding buildings. Simon Hartley, Head of Estates and Facilities for Leeds College of Music, commented, The installation of new Leeds College of Music illuminated external signage on the main College building was very important to the conservatoire as it was part of our marketing rebrand and we wanted people to not only know where we were but for them to also be visually impressed with the signage. Signs Express (Leeds) offered very good value in providing a competitive quotation, in delivering excellent customer service and in relation to their product – the signage. We were very pleased with the personal support from Dave who attended pre-meetings to ensure that he fully understood our brief. He offered advice throughout the project and it was very clear that his interest was to ensure a quality outcome which met our expectations through a partnership approach. Dave and his team were very closely involved in planning and overseeing the complex installation which involved working at height, managing health and safety risks and close liaison with the conservatoire. The installation was completed without disruption to the conservatoire’s operations and to our full satisfaction. We are very pleased with the signage and would have no hesitation in recommending Signs Express (Leeds) to other organisations. Situated in Leodis Court, Signs Express (Leeds) is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technologies to fulfil the signs and graphics requirements of local businesses.
