Signs Express (Aberdeen) is proud to be sponsoring the 2015 Aaron Williams Football Tournament.
The tournament was established in 2012 in partnership with Northsound Radio, Police Scotland and Aberdeen Football club, with sponsorship from Evolve Training Aberdeen, in memory of local Police Constable's close friend, Aaron Williams, who lost his battle against melanoma skin cancer, aged just 25. Originally the tournament was set up as a small school event to raise awareness for melanoma, but quickly it expanded in to the large community event it is today. The first Aaron Williams Football Tournament took place on Northfield Playing Fields, lasted for a week and saw more than 40 teams participating, of all ages. The finals were all held at Sunnybank Football Pitch, followed by a charity evening and auction. In total the Tournament raised an impressive £5,000 for Cancer Research and received wide praise and awards from Grampian Police and Northsound Radio. The following year, 2013, the Tournament took place over 2 weeks with 90 teams participating. Joey Harper became the first ambassador for the event and the charity evening was held at Pittodrie Stadium – in total, raising £7,000 for the Archie Foundation. Work commitments meant that in 2014 unfortunately the Tournament could not take place, however, this year it's back – and bigger than ever! In 2015, the event will be raising money for Friends of Anchor and Cash for Kids. Signs Express (Aberdeen) is delighted to be sponsoring this event, which is the biggest tournament held in Aberdeen, and will be providing the promotional banners and posters.
