Taking window decals to new heights for Skyline Aero Ltd!
Skyline Aero Ltd is a UK aircraft component aftermarket supplier, supporting the commercial aviation market, based at Cotswold Airport.
The Brief
Skyline Aero Ltd. contacted Signs Express Cheltenham in need of some decals for glass partitions recently installed in their office for both safety and aesthetics. With a design already in mind, they were looking for a trusted signage partner like Signs Express to bring their idea to life and propose a solution with a quick turnaround time.
The new glass partition was installed as an extension of an existing glass area, which already carried some decals, so these needed to be removed and replaced with the new design extending across the entire length of the partition.
The Solution
The team at Signs Express Cheltenham took care of the project from start to finish, including the design, proposal, completing feedback from the client, and of course the production and installation on-site.
First, we took the images provided by the client as inspiration and mocked up a bespoke frosted glass design. Due to the nature of the process to print white onto frosted vinyl, the machine used to do this requires to be cleaned and flushed following the job, with the cost passed onto the customer.
However, this cost would have been disproportionate in relation to the size of the job, so the team chose instead to adapt the design to reduce it. The solution used a combination of the silver etch-frosted vinyl for the main body of the window manifestations, with white only being used for the design at the top. The intricate design involved a lot of cut lines, which meant design and production had to work closely together to make sure the vinyl design was able to be weeded.
The Result
By following the customer brief closely, the first draft of the design was accepted, and the finished result achieves the result Skyline Aero were looking for. The design enhances the space and reinforces the brand, with the line-based design suggesting air flow and wind tunnels providing a fitting aesthetic for the aeronautical company.
Overall, it’s a perfect blend of safety and aesthetics, as the window manifestations increase the visibility of the glass partitions, provide privacy with the frosting positioned at low levels to cover working areas for staff sitting at desks, and an attractive centre piece.
